Actress Lindsay Lohan has been sentenced to 90 days in an LA County jail starting July 20th for skipping required alcohol counseling sessions and for two DUI busts from May 26, 2007 and July 24, 2007. Lohan pleaded with Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel at the hearing, saying, "I'm not taking this as a joke - it's my life, and it's my career. "It's something I've worked for my entire life," Lohan continued. "I know I was ordered to go once a week, and ... I wasn't missing classes, I was working, mostly. "It wasn't vacation. It wasn't some kind of joke... I've been taking it seriously." Lohan missed alcohol counseling classes for seven separate weeks, the New York Post reports, citing an uncle's death - whose funeral she never attended - promoting her new clothing line, and attending industry events. The former Disney child star missed a May court appearance when cameras caught her partying at the Cannes Film Festival; Lohan said she couldn't travel to the US for the required court appearance because she lost her passport. On June 6th the actress was caught partying once again at the MTV Movie Awards, where her alcohol monitoring SCRAM ankle bracelet reported a 0.03 blood-alcohol level. Judge Marsha Revel likened the "Mean Girls" starlet's reckless actions to "...somebody who cheats doesn't think it's cheating unless they get caught." Lohan will most-likely spend her sentence in the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, California, reports the Post, where heiress Paris Hilton spent time in 2007 for violating her probation on a reckless driving charge; the Post reports that non-violent, female inmates are released 25% earlier than their total sentence due to overcrowding. Lohan was emotional during the hearing, shocked and sobbing when Revel came to a ruling, while gripping her lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley's arm. "Lohan comes and goes as she pleases, there's been a history of that," commented Revel. To add to the drama, Lohan's estranged father Michael Lohan stormed out of the court room once Revel read his daughter's sentence and afterwards said, "The system failed her." The actress will be forced to attend an in-patient, court-ordered, substance-abuse program for 90 days, after two days of freedom following her jail sentence. Michael Lohan spoke to Larry King hours after the hearing, saying he felt "dismay, but at the same time a little satisfaction that she's going to rehab. "But the last thing in the world I wanted was for my daughter to go to jail. ... Any kind of jail is harsh especially for a young lady like Lindsay that doesn't need jail.
